Celebrate the Small Things

It's time for another edition of. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Kids back in school! They started yesterday, which I thought meant a writing day for me...but alas. I discovered all sorts of things that need to be done in the household now that everyone's been cleared out. Silly household work!

2) Cooler temperatures! Which means I can bake again! Yep, that oven's back on which means sponge cake, chocolate chip cookies and a big, braided raisin bread (German style). Let's ignore the fact that this will add some extra pounds.

3) Building a snowman! Ha! Don't I wish. Actually, these are the words my son has been singing all week long. For some reason, he's flipped into Mr. Singing in the Rain mode (Lol! Which is actually true since it has been raining quite a bit) and has been breaking out in joyous tunes everywhere he goes. I'm loving it.

What about you? What put a smile on your face? Get a chance to day dream clouds into animals? Sip a delicious tea? Get to go out dancing or to a movie? What are you celebrating this week?

  1. Hopefully today you can do something besides housework!

  2. My son started school last week. Writing time was catch-up time for me too. Ah, if only every day were a musical like that! :) Have a lovely weekend.

  3. I don't mind the cooler weather, but no snowmen for at least 5 months, please.

  4. Haha--yes. Housework tends to pile up overnight, while you are sleeping, esp. w/4 kids, I imagine.

Why no baking in summer? No A/C? *cancels visit to Tonja's farm*

A kid who spontaneously breaks out into song? You did something right! :-D

This week, I'm celebrating friends who RT your promo stuff w/o being prompted.

You know who you are. ;-)

  5. Boo housework. Lol! So, feel free to push some of that cooler weather this way. It's been so humid here, ugh! Would love to see some snow! Haha! ^_^

Christine - May this next week bring tons of writing for you!

Ken - Lol! Yeah, it'd be a bit earlier right now.

Ilana - AC is an issue in progress. But now we have cooler days :)

Krystal - I'm huffing and puffing in your direction!

  7. It made me smile to think of your son bursting into song. Cute!! Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy baking some more of those yummy treats.

  8. I'm glad it's cooling down for you. It's still scorching hot in PA. Our pool temperature is 90 degrees. It's like a giant bathtub.

I am celebrating the completion of a bathroom remodel in time for the arrival of our German exchange student. We pick her up at the airport tonight ... and we finished the bathroom 3 hours ago. Cutting it a bit close!

  9. 18 days. It will be 18 more days until my two go back to school. But I will be using those first days of freedom to clean since my parents will be paying us a visit (which will be a ton of fun, so I don't mind.) So 23 days. In 23 days I might be able to write something.

I'm celebrating peaches! We have an orchard near our house that has yielded super excellent yummy peaches and blueberries this summer. So good.

  10. My kids have 11 more days of vacation before it's back to school. Love that your son is singing all over the place. So cheery! Have fun baking, but I can do without the snowmen for awhile. :) Have a great weekend!

  11. What a terrific week! I love raisin bread, not to mention cookies and cakes. Your family will be spoiled with such good stuff coming out of the kitchen! No one sings unless they're very happy, so you know your son is walking on clouds. Have a lovely weekend!

  12. This week, I went with friends to a baseball game with a Star Wars fireworks show afterward. I'm not quite sure if I'd say I'm celebrating it - I didn't get home until 1AM, which is ridiculously late for me, and I'm still tired. >_< Was a good time, though.

And I actually am celebrating getting back to plotting; so much stuff piled up when I was in editing mode, and it's good to finally get to work on it all.

  13. My kiddos are back to school next week...I'll miss them! But it will be nice to not have to constantly tidy up all day long...just after 4pm :)

  14. My kids started back to school today, and while I have gotten a little writing in, I haven't done nearly as much as I'd planned.

  15. School... Oye. So I have a 100% kinesthetic learner who doesn't like to learn from Mom. It's been a struggle. He got accepted into a Montessori school this last week, which meant all the crazy of a last minute scramble to get his paperwork together and his uniform and everything else, but every day when I pick him up he raves about how awesome school was. I have to say that puts a smile on my face every day.
