Celebrate the Small Things

It's the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS!!!
And what better way to celebrate than this blog hop now sponsored by Lexa Cain?

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Fresh baked muffins!  My oldest got up at 5:00am yesterday morning to bake muffins. WHY???? Yes, this was a huge question in my mind. He's 17. They sleep in. They don't do things like that. Hmmmm.... He claims that he thought it'd be nice for everyone to wake up to. And he swept my kitchen floor. And he cleaned out my dishwasher. And he washed dishes. And he made me a fresh hot tea the minute I stepped into the kitchen. I am wowed. (And a little part of me is wondering what he's hiding...)

2) Herbs! I picked up several packages of seed this week and can't wait to plant them. I had such a lovely herb garden in Germany...so nice to just go out and pick whatever one needs...so it's time to get that back.

3) Auctions start again!!! Private auctions are a BIG thing around here...I think it's a form of farmer entertainment. Anyway, I have a nice list of things I need (ranging from cabinets, to fencing supplies, to ...well, all sorts of things), and auctions are a great way to get fantastic deals. I'm hoping tomorrow there will be a pot of gold at the end of my rainbow.

And what about you? Are you going to remember to be happy today and smile everywhere you go? What wonderful things happened to you this week???

  1. I'm surprised he didn't turn to dust getting up that early. That was nice of him to make muffins though.

  3. How awesome! It does feel suspicious doesn't it. Lol! Sometimes kids just want to be sweet. They can weird like this. ;)

Ooh, have fun at the auction!

17, and industrious - yep I might be suspect too!

  9. All that behavior by your 17 year old does indeed sound suspicious. :) Unless he's just an incredible kid.

  10. International Happiness Day? Awesome!

Enjoy the muffins, hopefully there is nothing suspicious hiding beneath the deliciousness!

  11. Never look a gift muffin in the mouth. Just surrender to the miracle of washed dishes and hot tea and be happy. Good luck with your herb garden and I hope you find oodles of auction gold at the end of the rainbow! :)

  12. Not so much a wonderful thing that happened this week, but I've been in my new place in Washington for nearly three weeks, so that's pretty awesome for me. ^_^ And I finally got some internet issues straightened out today, so yeah, day of happiness sounds about right.

  15. Whoa--what a great son! I need to rent him for a while . . . or find out what he IS hiding. ("Um, mom? About that huge dent in the car . . .")

Ooo--fencing supplies! I didn't even know you were a swordswoman. ;-) Anyway, hope you made out like a bandit at the auction.

The wonderful thing that happened to me this week (that I sort of made happen) was finishing revising the 2nd book in my trilogy! Now it can be sent to the betas--including YOU! So that's another good thing that happened to you. Maybe. Sort of. Unless you don't like the book.

  16. I'm feeling a little low about my WIP right now. But that was countered by the fun of discovering my book was at the local school's Scholastic Fair. I was invited in to sign books; then invited back to sign more because they sold out and ordered more. That was the perfect counter to being depressed over my writing. :)

Awesome about your son! If it was my daughter, I'd expect to be hit up with a BIG request really soon ...

  17. Okay, that is not normal teenage behavior! Enjoy it while you are still ignorant as to what he did :) LOL
